Melbourne In another success for smart, the smart fortwo has celebrated its best ever annual sales, according to industry figures released today.

Demand for the environmentally savvy smart fortwo model resulted in sales of 533 of the iconic cars in 2006. This represents a 20 per cent increase over the previous year.

The total 2006 sales figure of 773 smart units is more than triple the brand’s first annual sales figure from 2003, the year of smart’s Australian market introduction.

“With more and more consumers becoming environmentally conscious it’s no wonder smart sales have continued to grow in Australia”, said Sam Tabart, senior manager for smart Australia.
