A two day testing session has confirmed the speed and capabilities of the all new Suzuki Swift Super 1600.

The testing of the vehicle is in preparation for its debut at the Rally Finland as part of the Junior World Rally Championship (JWRC) in August this year.

Completing more than 300 kilometres during the test in Corwen, in northern Wales, the Swift was subjected to a punishing test programme consisting of various road conditions at a variety of speeds.

Suzuki JWRC drivers, P-G Andersson and Guy Wilks were impressed with the vehicle’s performance and are now quietly confident that the Swift will be capable of winning on its debut.

The Swift showed itself to be entirely reliable, with only a minor power steering problem after 300 gruelling kilometres.

“I am very happy and excited after testing the Swift again. The car is extremely fast and very reliable…There is nothing more I would like to improve…The car is fantastic,” Reigning JWRC Champion, P-G Andersson said.

The next testing session for the Swift will be on asphalt surfaces in the south of France during the first week of July, but in the meantime the Suzuki squad will concentrate their efforts on winning the next round of the JWRC, the Acropolis Rally, 24-26 June, 2005.
