Daihatsu Mira / Handi / Handivan

First released in Japan in 1980 was daihatsu’s replacement of their popular Max model with a new car known as the Mira. It was a small 2 cyl 550cc hatch that was available in both 3 and 5 door versions with a 4 speed manual or optional 4 speed clutchless manual known as “Easy Drive”. The Mira was marketed differently in many countries, in the UK it was sold as a Domino and as a Cuore in many other parts of the world.

Suzuki Mighty Boy

The Suzuki Mighty Boy was a 3 cyl ute that was sold in japan from round about 1983 until 1988 as a 550cc K-class car. the Mighty Boy also was exported with a larger 800cc engine to other countries like Australia and New Zealand.

Nissan Moco / Suzuki MR Wagon

First released in 2001 the Nissan Moco is one of Nissan’s first entrants into Japan’s Kei class market where 660cc city cars get good tax breaks making them ideal for Tokyo’s packed streets.

Nissan S Cargo

The Nissan S Cargo was a limited edition commercial vehicle that was sold only in Japan. Based on Nissan Micra mechanicals and produced in Yokohama’s pike factory, only 12000 were built between 1989 and 1992.

Renault Be Bop

The Renault Be Bop is a concept car first shown at the 2003 Frankfurt motor show. In fact there are two Be Bop concept cars that, rather confusingly, are both called Be Bop. With over half their bodywork parts in common, Both Be Bops nevertheless have very different personalities, one targeting the sporty MPV market and the other targeting the SUV market.

The Moke

The Moke was developed from the BMC Mini by the Mini’s designer Sir Alec Issigonis. The intention of the Moke was to create a cheap and light weight utility vehicle that the British army would be able to transport anywhere easily, even if it meant being dropped out of a aeroplane.

Shannons to Auction off rare Daihatsu

Shannons Auctions are about to auction off a very rare 1963 Daihatsu Compagnia Convertible. Finished in Red paintwork with contrasting whitewall tyres, the 797cc 4 speed manual is expected to fetch between $5000AU and $8000AU.

The Trabant P601

Built in East Germany in a factory were Audi’s were once built before WW2. The Sachsenring Trabant started life in 1957. Several models were produced but the most famous one was the P601 that began production in 1967 and was sold relatively unchanged until after the fall of the wall to 1991.
